This my grade 8 online portfolio of 2011. This personal portfolio of mine is full of work from all of my subjects. Throughout the year I did a lot of work. Through the year I had many difficulties and ease throughout the year. Some things I did well are making the definition cards with illustrations in Social Studies and Language Arts. However somethings I had difficulties with were making EXPLORER responses in language arts, I had difficulties finding the right information for the right parts. Another thing I had difficulties with were Dividing fractions in math. I was mixed up on the different ways you could find the answer.
Math
Term 1 Reflection
I feel term 1 was a very good term. However, I wasn’t happy on my term mark, due to some test. In the term we learned ratio, rate, proportion, square numbers, right triangles, perfect squares and Pythagorean relationship. For homework purposes I have to say I did pretty well on the blogging, however in my effort for making blog post, I think I should try harder to explain more in my post, adding some originality to my post. For the written homework I have to say I also did well, however I have some late work that I haven’t accomplished on time. For next term 2 I would like to focus more on the big test and quizzes we get in class. Also to participate more in class, To help me reach my goal for success in my term 2 report. To reach this goal I will try my best to Finish all assignment, Study hard for big test and putting more effort in my blog post, like adding more pictures, videos and more information to explain the topic we are talking about even further.
Term 2 Reflection Larajean’s Term 2 reflection What did you do well in this term? In term 2, I did really well on finding Surface Area in shapes using the net method that Mr.Harbeck showed us. In term 2 I also did well on finding volume in Rectangular prisms, Cubes and Cylinders. What did you struggle on? In term 2 I struggled on a few things. Some things that I struggled on were finding the volume of a triangular prism, Due to the confusing formula. Also I struggled on commenting on the blog. How will you do better next term? Next term, I will try to do better on my blogging by commenting more often on blog post. Also next term I will concentrate more in class and try to put my hand up to answer a few questions. What did you learn about percent, surface area & volume. In term 2 I learned many things about percents, surface area and volume of different shapes. In percent I learned that every percentage is out of 100, And to find a percent you have to use division. In surface area,I learned that every shape has an outline of it, For example, a cylinder is made of a rectangle and 2 squares. In Volume I learned that every shape has a certain amount of volume within the shape, no matter what size it is, there’s always a volume within the shape.

One reason for this assignment to to help me understand visually how the cro magnons lived. Also the assignment helped me create a visual organizer which is one way of showing ideas. Finally this assignment helped me prepare for the unit test which was coming up soon about Cro Magnons.CRITERIA: How do I know what I needed to do to be successful in completing this assignment?- Create a visual organizer to show specific details of cro magnon life.- Each section of the poster needed a heading.- Followed the rubric given to complete task.
